HONORING ROGER E. BOUCHARD ON HIS INDUCTION INTO THE RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Radio Hall of Fame was established in 2008 to celebrate |
2 | the medium's history in the Ocean State. Being selected as an inductee into the organization is a |
3 | momentous tribute to those who have played a significant role in radio’s history and growth in |
4 | our state; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Roger E. Bouchard, a Woonsocket native, is a graduate of Woonsocket |
6 | High School, Rhode Island College, and Emerson College. He currently serves as the President |
7 | and General Manager of WNRI. Roger's multi-faceted responsibilities include developing |
8 | programming, producing a daily morning news and talk show, and selling and coordinating the |
9 | station's advertising; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Mr. Bouchard began on the path to a career in radio at an early age, |
11 | developing an interest in broadcasting from his brother who worked at WNRI. While still in high |
12 | school, he was put on the air to temporarily replace a dismissed employee; and |
13 | WHEREAS, While in college, Roger worked weekends and nights at WWON (now |
14 | WOON), first to pay his bills, but soon thereafter, it became his passion. Upon graduation from |
15 | college, he turned all his energies to a full-time career in radio; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Mr. Bouchard has worked at myriad small market stations in Rhode Island, |
17 | from General Manager at WKRI to his current position at WNRI; and |
18 | WHEREAS, If something is occurring in Woonsocket, Roger and WNRI are always there |
19 | covering stories and making a positive difference in the lives of Woonsocket’s residents; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Within the community, Mr. Bouchard is a member of the Woonsocket |
2 | Rotary Club, has served as a commissioner of the Woonsocket Housing Authority, and as chair of |
3 | the Woonsocket Senior Center Board of Directors; and |
4 | WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Bouchard has served as the President of the Rhode Island |
5 | Broadcasters' Association, was named Woonsocket Citizen of the Year in 2005, was made Grand |
6 | Marshall of the Autumnfest parade, and was inducted into the American-French Genealogical |
7 | Society; and |
8 | WHEREAS, With a radio career that has spanned more than thirty years, Roger E. |
9 | Bouchard has had an enduring impact on the radio industry and his accomplishments are worthy |
10 | of our recognition and emulation; now, therefore be it |
11 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode and Providence |
12 | Plantations hereby honors Roger E. Bouchard on his induction into the Rhode Island Radio Hall |
13 | of Fame; and be it further |
14 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
15 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Roger E. Bouchard. |
