EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES TO THE DELUCA FAMILY ON THE PASSING OF | |

1 | WHEREAS, Gennaro J. "Gerry" DeLuca passed away tragically at his home due to a fire |
2 | on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Mr. DeLuca was sixty-six years old. He was born in Providence, |
3 | Rhode Island, the son of the late John and Edna (Hatten) DeLuca, and was the husband of |
4 | Roberta DeLuca; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Mr. DeLuca served our nation with honor and valor during the Vietnam |
6 | War as a member of the United States Navy. He was a retired house painter and had owned his |
7 | own painting business for many years. He was also known for painting churches for free as an |
8 | "expression of his faith" and as a way of "saying thank you to God"; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Mr. DeLuca was also very active in civic and political affairs and was |
10 | always willing to speak his mind and hold elected officials responsible, whether it be by letter, on |
11 | talk radio, or from the floor of Harris Hall; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Besides his wife Roberta, Mr. DeLuca leaves behind his sisters, Murial |
13 | DeLuca Pepper, Christine DeLuca, Kathy Gay, and Maria Goulet, and his brothers, John DeLuca, |
14 | Joseph DeLuca, and Paul DeLuca; now, therefore be it |
15 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
16 | Providence Plantations hereby expresses its condolences to the DeLuca Family on the passing of |
17 | Gennaro J. DeLuca; and be it further |

1 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
2 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Roberta DeLuca. |
