RECOGNIZING THE HONORABLE ARAM G. GARABEDIAN ON THE OCCASION OF | |
HIS 80TH BIRTHDAY | |

1 | WHEREAS, Aram G. Garabedian was born eighty years ago on May 13, 1935, at a time |
2 | when our country was finally turning the corner on the Great Depression. He was born and raised |
3 | in Providence, attended Hope High School, and received a Bachelor's degree from the University |
4 | of Maine. After serving our country with honor in the United States Army, he returned to Rhode |
5 | Island and set out to conquer life; and |
6 | WHEREAS, After marrying his high school sweetheart Jane, and having two children, |
7 | Gary and Lisa, Mr. Garabedian moved to Cranston and soon became an astute and successful |
8 | businessman. He is a co-managing partner of the Warwick Mall, a real estate property manager |
9 | and developer, President of Bliss Properties, Inc., and President of One Financial Center Plaza |
10 | LLC, and a former Director of NBTY Inc., and was associated with its predecessor, Arco |
11 | Pharmaceuticals, Inc., for 20 years in a sales capacity and as an Officer; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Equally dedicated to improving our state through civic involvement, Mr. |
13 | Garabedian served Rhode Island as a public official on both the city and state levels in myriad |
14 | capacities. Over the years he has run for office as a Republican, a Democrat, and an Independent, |
15 | and has served for six years on the Cranston School Committee, eight years in the House of |
16 | Representatives, two years in the Senate, and four years as Cranston City Council President; and |
17 | WHEREAS, An active participant in numerous charitable and community projects, Mr. |
18 | Garabedian has donated his time and energies as a Trustee for the Armenian Assembly of |
19 | America, a Board Member of the Cranston Citizens for Responsible Zoning & Development, |

1 | President of the Cranston Land Trust, Chair of Marketing and a Board Member of the Rhode |
2 | Island Red Cross, a Board Member of the Rhode Island Holocaust Education Center, Vice Chair |
3 | and Board Member of Rhode Island Meals on Wheels. He has also assisted and sponsored many |
4 | other organizations such as the International Institute, Dorcas Place, Harmony Hill School, |
5 | Western Little League, and the Genesis Center; and |
6 | WHEREAS, In 2012, Aram Garabedian was inducted into the Rhode Island Heritage |
7 | Hall of Fame. For his successful efforts in helping to complete the World War II Veterans |
8 | Monument in Providence, he received the RI Action Veterans Center's "Patriot Award," and his |
9 | never-give-up efforts to restore the Warwick Mall after Rhode Island's 2010 "Great Flood" helped |
10 | to assure, rebound, and rebuild both the Mall and the community; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Mr. Garabedian's life has spanned eight glorious and rewarding decades. |
12 | During those years, he has impacted the lives of so many people with his wealth of knowledge, |
13 | his generosity and his overall exuberance for life and he is eminently worthy of our recognition |
14 | and utmost gratitude; now, therefore be it |
15 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
16 | Providence Plantations hereby joins the family and many friends of Aram Garabedian in honoring |
17 | him on the very special occasion of his 80th Birthday. We moreover extend our wishes for his |
18 | continued happiness and good health, and all the very best that life has to offer; and be it further |
19 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
20 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Aram G. Garabedian. |
