JOYOUSLY CELEBRATING THE 61ST WEDDING ANNIVERSARY OF ELWOOD

MORTON HOPKINS AND SHIRLEY ANNE RUSSELL HOPKINS ON MAY 22, 2015

     WHEREAS, Elwood Morton Hopkins and Shirley Anne Russell Hopkins will be

joyously celebrating the 61st Anniversary of their union as husband and wife on May 22, 2015;

and

     WHEREAS, Together, Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins raised four wonderful children; Elizabeth

Hopkins Stone of Foster, Rhode Island, Pamela Jeanne Hopkins of Foster, Rhode Island, Elwood

Morton Hopkins of Los Angeles, California, and New York, NY, and Sandra Anne Hopkins

Sheldon of Foster, Rhode Island; and

     WHEREAS, Elwood and Shirley Hopkins have both served the Town of Foster, Rhode

Island, in a variety of civic capacities. Shirley Hopkins has served on the Board of Canvassers

and has served at elections as one of the persons checking voters into the system. Mr. Hopkins

still serves on the Tax Board of Review of the Foster Senior Housing at Hemlock Village. He is

the only original member still serving in this capacity and was named Citizen of the Year by the

Foster Clergy Association. Mr. Hopkins also served the citizens of Foster with honor, integrity

and diligence as a member of the Foster Town Council for several terms. He also served the

Foster Lions Club in numerous capacities. Shirley and Elwood have both worked at the Foster

Old Home Days, Shirley with her daughter Elizabeth, and Elwood as a representative of the

Republican Town Committee and as a Representative for the Foster Lions; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby joyously celebrates the 61st Wedding Anniversary of Shirley Anne

Russell Hopkins and Elwood Morton Hopkins on May 22, 2015. We furthermore thank them for

their lifetime of civic service to the Town of Foster, Rhode Island; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. and Mrs. Elwood and Shirley Hopkins.
