H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING THE NORTH SMITHFIELD BOYS HOCKEY TEAM ON WINNING

THE 2014-2015 RHODE ISLAND DIVISION II HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP

     WHEREAS, The North Smithfield Boys Hockey Team compiled an outstanding regular

season record of 15-4 and placed first in the regular season Division II standings; and

     WHEREAS, In the Division II finals series against rival South Kingstown, the North

Smithfield Northmen played their best hockey of the season as they controlled the pace of play

and swept South Kingstown in the best of three series to win their first state crown in nine years

to finish their season with a final record of 22-5-1; and

     WHEREAS, In the championship series finals, North Smithfield swept South Kingstown

in convincing fashion to win the title. They won the first game in a shut out by the score of 3-0,

and won the second game 3-1. North Smithfield Goalie Mark S. Pasquariello made an astounding

62 saves in the two-game series and was awarded the Robert C. Newbold Most Valuable Player

Award for his efforts; and

     WHEREAS, Winning a state title in a team sport requires that every member of the team

be completely committed to accomplishing team goals even if that requires putting aside personal

goals. The North Smithfield Boys Hockey Team has these qualities in abundance as they were

aided all season by the contributions provided by Jacob DeCelles, Thomas Mowry, Mark S.

Pasquariello, Bradley Shatraw, Benjamin W. Stone, Matthew R. Barrette, Riley A. Boucher.

Nicholas P. Degnan, Kyle V. Evangelista, Andrew M. LaBelle, Noah R. Menard, Matthew S.

Pasquariello, Zachary Q. Racine, Raffaelo R. Manzo, Sean M. Murphy, Adam Blakemore, Noah

Darveau, Keith J. Fineout, Nathan Lemoine, Evan T. Moran and Chase Tondreau. The North

Smithfield Boys Hockey Team also benefitted all season from the exemplary coaching and team

management provided by Head Coach Paul Nadeau, Assistant Coaches Steve Wowk, Mike

Salisbury, James DeCelles and Ben Shatraw, and Team Managers Luke Pasquariello and Nolan

Boucher; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates the North Smithfield Boys Hockey Team on winning

the 2014-2015 Rhode Island Division II Hockey Championship; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to North Smithfield Boys Hockey Head Coach

Paul Nadeau.
