H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING TARA PRINCIPE ON BEING NAMED THE "DISTINGUISHED

YOUNG WOMAN OF RHODE ISLAND"

     WHEREAS, The National Scholarship program "Distinguished Young Women" offers

scholarships to young women who exhibit leadership skills and the talent to succeed in a myriad

of endeavors. It helps their participants to develop friendships, to become self-confident, and to

expand upon life-skills that will enable them to become successful in life; and

     WHEREAS, Tara Principe of Johnston, Rhode Island, has been named the "2015

Distinguished Young Woman of Rhode Island" by the Distinguished Young Women of Rhode

Island judges in the official state preliminary of the national Distinguished Young Women

organization. Tara will be the Rhode Island representative at the 58th Annual National

Distinguished Young Women National Finals, in Mobile, Alabama, which are held from June 25

to June 27; and

     WHEREAS, Tara has also earned numerous other prestigious awards and honors,

including the 2014 RICCA Spirit Award, membership in the National Honor Society and the

National Italian Honors Society, Football Cheerleading Captain, earning First Honors, and being

appointed Student Leader at the Kairos Retreat; and

     WHEREAS In addition, Tara is a participant in numerous school-related activities

including cheerleading, La Sallian Youth, and serving as a Retreat Leader, Gymnastics Coach,

and as a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Tara Principe on being named the "Distinguished

Young Woman From Rhode Island." We furthermore wish her continued success at the National

Finals; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Tara Principe.
