HONORING RESCUE CAPTAIN ANGELA L. TAYLOR ON THE OCCASION OF HER

RETIREMENT FROM THE WEST GLOCESTER FIRE DEPARTMENT

     WHEREAS, Many people go through their lives without any personal contact with

potential life and death situations, without a defining moment that turns an ordinary person into a

hero. Members of Rhode Island's fire departments face such challenges each and every week and

Rescue Captain Angela Taylor is no exception; and

     WHEREAS, Service to the community has been just a way of life for Angela Taylor. A

volunteer firefighter, Captain Taylor exemplifies the ideals of an enthusiastic and truly dedicated

leader. Over the course of her career, she has not only worked diligently to obtain FEMA grants

and the necessary funding for the proper functioning of the department, but she has most

importantly saved countless lives, homes, and personal property; and

     WHEREAS, In addition, Captain Taylor managed the fire department's taxes and

disbursements under two Fire Chiefs and worked to ensure adherence to voting regulations for

public offices; and   

     WHEREAS, Captain Taylor has touched the lives and hearts of so many people. She is

truly an extraordinary woman who serves as a model of dedicated and conscientious civic service,

and she is eminently worthy of our emulation and acknowledgement; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby recognizes, honors, and thanks Rescue Captain Angela Taylor on

the occasion of her retirement after many years of steadfast and unselfish service to the people of

West Glocester and the State of Rhode Island. We wish her some well-deserved relaxation, good

health, and much happiness in sunny Arizona; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Rescue Captain Angela Taylor.
