H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING THE COVENTRY BOYS' VOLLEYBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE

2015 RHODE ISLAND DIVISION I BOYS' CHAMPIONSHIP

     WHEREAS, The Coventry Boys' Volleyball Team entered the 2015 Rhode Island Boys'

Volleyball State Tournament as one of the leading contenders after winning the South Division

and compiling a superb 15-1 record; and

     WHEREAS, Coventry easily dispatched their opponents in the first two rounds, sweeping

East Providence in the Quarterfinals and La Salle in the Semi-Finals, thereby earning the right to

face their arch-rivals, South Kingstown, in the state finals; and

     WHEREAS, In the Championship Finals, Coventry prevailed 3 sets to 1 over South

Kingstown at Brown University's Pizzitola Arena to win their second state title in three years.

Coventry was led by star volleyball player Ryan Buglio, who compiled an incredible total of 53

assists, had nine blocks, and directed his team's offense throughout this hard-fought match. Ryan

was ably assisted by the key contributions provided by Cameron Roth, who led the Coventry

Squad with 17 kills, John Equitani, with 13 kills, and Zachary Turner with 12 kills; and

     WHEREAS, Winning a State Championship requires that everyone on the team give their

all and put individual desires aside in favor of team needs and goals. The Coventry Boys'

Volleyball Team had those qualities in abundance as they were assisted all season by the

contributions provided by Co-Captains Kyle Kirkland and Ryan Buglio, and fellow teammates

Helder Palrao, Cody Mottshaw, Anthony Morgera, Jacob LeClair, Gregory DeNigris, Cameron

Mendonca, Matthew Buglio, John Equitani, Nicholas Chaves, Anthony Dellagrotta, Cameron

Roth, Nick Calci, Zachary Turner, Alex Harrington, Dalton Lacaillade, Jordan Carpenter,

Matthew Johnson, Tyler Ferrara, Matthew Peloso, Connor Lucas, Michael DeAngelis, Devon

Weiss, John Palmer, Ryan Robillard and Andrew LaBelle. The Coventry Squad also benefitted all

season from the innovative coaching and stellar leadership provided by Head Coach Jonathan

Bartlett, and Assistant Coach Jill Krebs; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates the Coventry Boys' Volleyball Team on winning the

2015 Rhode Island Division I Boys' Volleyball Championship; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Jonathan Bartlett, Head Coach, Coventry

Boys' Volleyball Team.
