RELATING TO TAXATION -- PROPERTY SUBJECT TO TAXATION

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 2 of Chapter 510 of the 2013 Public Laws entitled "An Act Relating

To Taxation -- Property Subject To Taxation" is hereby amended as follows:

3

     Section 2. This act shall take effect upon passage on December 31, 2011.

     SECTION 2. Section 2 of Chapter 523 of the 2013 Public Laws entitled "An Act Relating

5

To Taxation -- Property Subject To Taxation" is hereby amended as follows:

     Section 2. This act shall take effect upon passage on December 31, 2011.

     SECTION 3. Section 2 of Chapter 512 of the 2013 Public Laws entitled "An Act Relating

To Taxation -- Exempt Property" is hereby amended as follows:

     Section 2. This act shall take effect upon passage on December 31, 2011.

     SECTION 4. Section 2 of Chapter 524 of the 2013 Public Laws entitled "An Act Relating

To Taxation -- Exempt Property" is hereby amended as follows:

     Section 2. This act shall take effect upon passage on December 31, 2011.

     SECTION 5. Section 2 of Chapter 513 of the 2013 Public Laws entitled "An Act Relating

To Taxation " is hereby amended as follows:

     Section 2. This act shall take effect upon passage on December 31, 2011.

     SECTION 6. Section 2 of Chapter 525 of the 2013 Public Laws entitled "An Act Relating

To Taxation " is hereby amended as follows:

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

OF

A N   A C T

RELATING TO TAXATION -- PROPERTY SUBJECT TO TAXATION

     This act would correct laws passed in 2013 granting a tax exemption for the real and

2

personal property located within the city of East Providence of the following Rhode Island

3

nonprofit entities: St. Mary's Academy -- Bay View; East Bay Community Action Program and

4

its predecessor, Self-Help, Inc.; Columbus Club of East Providence and Barrington; Lodge 2337

5

BPO Elks; St. Andrew's Lodge No. 39; Trustees of Methodist Health and Welfare service a/k/a

6

United Methodist Elder Care; and the real and personal property located on the first floor of 90

7

Leonard Avenue of the Zion Gospel Temple, Cape Verdean Museum Exhibit, and the Rhode

8

Island Philharmonic Orchestra and Music School to make it effective December 31, 2011, to

9

make it clear that the exemptions apply to the 2013 tax year.

10

     This act would take effect upon passage.
