H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING THE HONORABLE MICHAEL EDWARD KELLY ON BEING

INSTALLED AS THE 105TH PRESIDENT OF THE PROVIDENCE ROTARY CLUB #22

     WHEREAS, The Honorable Michael Edward Kelly was educated at Holy Name

Grammar School, LaSalle Academy, where he was inducted into their Hall of Fame, the New

England Institute of Anatomy, and the United States Marine Corps/Navy Electronics School; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Kelly served our nation with honor and devotion as a member of the

United States Marine Corps for more than four years. He also served the citizens of Providence,

Rhode Island, with honor and integrity as a member of the Providence City Council for eight

years; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Kelly is a multi-skilled individual who has worked in a number of

professions, including serving as a Funeral Director and embalmer, working as the Director of

Home Loan Bank, and in auto-related businesses since 1968; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Kelly is passionate about aviation. He is an Airline Pilot with

commercial and instrumental ratings, is a past President of the Rhode Island Pilots' Association,

and is currently building an airplane at his home that will be pressurized up to 25,000 feet, and

will have a top speed of 300 miles per hour. He is truly a renaissance man; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Kelly worships at St. Joseph Parish in Cumberland, Rhode Island, and

is a man of strong faith. He is married to Kathleen and has six children; Nancy, Melissa, Mary,

Michael, Jr., Timothy, and Brendon, and sixteen grandchildren; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates the Honorable Michael Edward Kelly on being

installed as the 105th President of the Providence Rotary Club #22; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Michael Edward Kelly.
