EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF JEANETTE KATHERINE

KENNEDY

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Jeanette

2

Katherine Kennedy, devoted wife of Ronald Kennedy, and the loving mother of Kevin John

3

Kennedy and his wife, Janet, our friend and colleague the Honorable Representative Brian Patrick

4

Kennedy, Tracey Anne Kennedy and her husband, Ronald, and Erin Beth Celico and her

5

husband, Robert; and

6

     WHEREAS, Born in Southbridge, Massachusetts, to the late John and Albina Swirbliss,

7

Mrs. Kennedy is survived by her twin brother John Swirbliss, and was predeceased by her three

8

sisters, Theresa Morse, Barbara Fish, and Wilma Swirbliss; and

9

     WHEREAS, For much of her life, Mrs. Kennedy fought a courageous battle with

10

polycystic kidney disease, as did her three sisters, but her resolve and determination in the face of

11

this adversity was inspirational; and

12

     WHEREAS, Upon graduation from Mary Wells High School, Mrs. Kennedy received a

13

diploma from Worcester Memorial Hospital and became a registered nurse in Worcester. She

14

later worked in the obstetrical unit at Westerly Hospital until her marriage to Ronald Kennedy on

15

October 11th of 1958; and

16

     WHEREAS, Jeannette Kennedy's loving personality created and nurtured a marriage that

17

flourished, and a home that was warm and welcoming. She doted on her family, and particularly

18

enjoyed attending school events, and spending time with and hearing of the accomplishments of

19

her five beautiful grandchildren, Drew Kennedy Prouty, Ronald John Kennedy, Nicholas

Alexander Celico, Jonathan Thomas Celico and Gabriella Anne Celico; and

2

     WHEREAS, In addition to her family life, Mrs. Kennedy was a past member of the

3

Ashaway Junior Homemakers Club and enjoyed gardening and cooking; and

4

     WHEREAS, Our thoughts and hearts hold great empathy and sorrow for Mrs. Kennedy's

5

family. She was a thoughtful, creative and compassionate woman, a loving wife, a wonderful

6

mother and devoted grandmother, and ever faithful in her relationship with God. She enriched the

7

lives of all who knew her and will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it

8

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

9

hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Jeanette Katherine Kennedy; and be it

10

further

11

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

12

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Kevin John Kennedy, Representative Brian

13

Patrick Kennedy, Tracey Anne Kennedy, and Erin Beth Celico.
