CONGRATULATING BRIAN SULLIVAN, POLICE CHIEF OF LINCOLN, RHODE | |
ISLAND, ON BEING CHOSEN TO BE THE PRESIDENT OF THE RHODE ISLAND POLICE | |

1 | WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Police Chiefs' Association was created in 1950 with the |
2 | goal of fostering and promoting harmony, trust and cooperation amongst the various local city, |
3 | town and college and university Police Chiefs in Rhode Island; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Lincoln, Rhode Island, Police Chief Brian Sullivan is a graduate of |
5 | Shippensburg University with a degree in Criminal Justice. He began his distinguished public |
6 | safety career serving as a dispatcher for the Town of Lincoln in 1982; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Chief Sullivan overcame being deaf in one ear to earn the right to be a |
8 | patrolman for the Town of Lincoln in 1988. His attention to detail, tireless work ethic, and |
9 | abiding concern for the citizens of Lincoln was immediately noticed by his superiors and he |
10 | quickly began to climb the ranks. He became a Juvenile Detective in 1992, and was promoted to |
11 | Sergeant in 1998, Lieutenant in 2000, Deputy Chief in 2002, and Chief in 2008; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Chief Sullivan has been a very active member of the Rhode Island Police |
13 | Chiefs Association', serving them in prior capacities as their Sergeant-at-Arms and Vice- |
14 | President. All Rhode Island citizens will gain from his expertise, his ability to work well and |
15 | communicate with others and his driving desire to make our state as safe as possible for all of our |
16 | citizens; now, therefore be it |
17 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
18 | hereby congratulates Lincoln Police Chief Brian Sullivan on being elected the next President of |
19 | the Rhode Island Police Chiefs' Association. We wish him well in his new duties; and be it |

3 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Lincoln Police Chief, Brian Sullivan. |
