S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF DR. ANTHONY JOSEPH

DIMAIO

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Dr.

2

Anthony Joseph DiMaio. Better known as Tony to his family and many friends, he was the

3

devoted husband of Kirsten C. DiMaio, the loving father of Michael DiMaio, and a faithful

4

companion to his dog, Leia; and

5

     WHEREAS, Tony DiMaio grew up in Westerly, the son of Dr. Anthony and Mary Jane

6

DiMaio, the brother of Joseph DiMaio, Mary Jane DiMaio, and the late Daniel DiMaio; and

7

     WHEREAS, While attending the University of Rhode Island, Dr. DiMaio met his future

8

wife, Kirsten, and was a member of the Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity. Upon graduation from URI, he

9

attended the University of Delaware where he received a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry. He

10

continued his education, completing his post-doctorate at the University of Minnesota; and

11

     WHEREAS, Dr. DiMaio's interests and talents were as abundant as they were diverse.

12

Most recently, he had been employed as a Technical Support Manager, Americas Region, for

13

Galata Chemical in Southbury, Connecticut. He is credited with ten technical patents in his field.

14

In addition, he was a volunteer with the Woodbury Scholarship Fund, Boy Scout Troop 54, and

15

the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; and

16

     WHEREAS, Dr. DiMaio treated those around him with kindness and dignity, and there is

17

no doubt that this gentleman enriched the lives of all who knew him, and will be greatly missed;

18

now, therefore be

19

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Dr. Anthony Joseph DiMaio; and be it

2

further

3

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

4

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Kirsten C. DiMaio and Family.
