RELATING TO GENERAL ASSEMBLY -- ELECTRONIC VOTING

     Introduced By: Senators Raptakis, E O`Neill, Cote, Walaska, and Sheehan

     Date Introduced: February 11, 2015

     Referred To: Senate Judiciary

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 22-3-18 of the General Laws in Chapter 22-3 entitled "Organization

of General Assembly" is hereby amended to read as follows:

     22-3-18. Electronic voting. -- For the purpose of receiving and recording the vote of

members of the general assembly pursuant to the rules of the senate and the house of

representatives, the joint committee on legislative services shall provide for the senate and house

of representatives an electronic device or devices for the use by the members of the general

assembly in casting and recording votes. The joint committee on legislative services shall make

the record of the vote available to the public electronically not later than thirty (30) minutes

following the casting of said vote, and shall similarly provide the record of said vote

electronically to the secretary of state.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

     This act would require the joint committee on legislative services to make the record of

the votes of the general assembly available to the public and the secretary of state electronically

within thirty (30) minutes of the casting of said vote.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
