S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO THE VENATOR FAMILY ON THE

PASSING OF LEWIS VENATOR

     WHEREAS, Lewis "Griff" Venator was a native of Texas and a graduate of Texas A&M

2

University. He was a successful businessman and the President of Roitman and Son Fine

3

Furniture in Providence. He subsequently worked with the Nature Conservancy of Rhode Island

4

as a property manager; and

5

     WHEREAS, Mr. Venator had an abiding love and passion for nature and the outdoors.

6

He was an avid white water paddler and enjoyed spending time with friends engaging in outdoor

7

activities. He was also a volunteer with the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, and enjoyed

8

working around the fields, pond and garden at his home in Foster, Rhode Island. He especially

9

appreciated the time he got to spend with his companion pets Karma and Chico, along with his

10

other adopted cats and dogs; and

11

     WHEREAS, In recent years, Mr. Venator was very active as a hospice volunteer. He was

12

quite passionate about this endeavor and in his gentle, loving and quiet way, he brought

13

immeasurable comfort to those in need; and

14

     WHEREAS, Lewis Venator is survived by his wife, Deborah Roitman Venator, his

15

mother, Sue Venator, his sisters Betty Venator and Susan Goode, brother, Glen Venator, niece

16

Melissa Venator, and his nephews Patrick and Christopher Goode, Thomas Roitman, and

17

Alexander and Nicholas Holt; now, therefore be it

18

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

19

hereby expresses deepest condolences to the Venator Family on the passing of Lewis Venator;

and be it further

2

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

3

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Deborah Roitman Venator and Sue Venator.
