COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE ACT | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Sections 31-10.3-20 and 31-10.3-23 of the General Laws in Chapter 31- |
2 | 10.3 entitled "Rhode Island Uniform Commercial Driver's License Act" are hereby amended to |
3 | read as follows: |
4 | 31-10.3-20. Fees. -- The fees charged for commercial licenses, endorsements, |
5 | classifications, restrictions, and required examinations shall be as follows: |
6 | (1) For every commercial operator's first license, thirty dollars ($30.00); |
7 | (2) For every commercial Class P (Learner's permit) first license, sixty dollars ($60.00). |
8 | (2)(3) For every renewal of a commercial license, fifty dollars ($50.00); |
9 | (4) For every renewal of a commercial Class P (Learner's permit) license, sixty dollars |
10 | ($60.00). |
11 | (3)(5) For every duplicate commercial license, ten dollars ($10.00); |
12 | (4)(6) For every duplicate commercial instruction permit, ten dollars ($10.00) |
13 | (5)(7) For any change of: |
14 | (i) Classification(s), ten dollars ($10.00); |
15 | (ii) Endorsement(s), ten dollars ($10.00); |
16 | (iii) Restriction(s), ten dollars ($10.00); |
17 | (6)(8) For every written and/or oral examination, ten dollars ($10.00); |
18 | (7)(9) The board of governors for higher education shall establish fees that are deemed |

1 | necessary for the Community College of Rhode Island to administer the skill test, not to exceed |
2 | one hundred dollars ($100). |
3 | 31-10.3-23. Expiration of licenses. -- Every commercial license issued by the |
4 | department shall expire on the licensee's birth date in the fifth year following the initial issuance, |
5 | excluding Class P (learner's permit) licenses which shall expire ninety (90) one hundred and |
6 | eighty (180) days from the date of initial issuance, and excluding a first issuance which shall |
7 | expire on the licensee's birth date in the second year following initial issuance. |
8 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
