S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

HONORING AND THANKING KATHRYN E. RYAN FOR HER MANY YEARS OF

DEDICATED SERVICE WITH THE FRIENDS OF TIVERTON LIBRARIES BOARD

     WHEREAS, Kathryn E. Ryan has served the citizens of Tiverton with honor and

integrity during the past ten years as President of the Friends of Tiverton Libraries Board. She is a

passionate believer in public libraries and their ability to serve the community in myriad ways;

and

     WHEREAS, Under Mrs. Ryan’s direction and guidance, the Friends membership has

grown rapidly, the number of library museum passes has increased, the library newsletter has

expanded from a few hundred copies to approximately 3,000 electronic filings, and the Friends

financial support to the library has grown from $1,000 to $15,000; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Ryan also served on the Library Building Committee, where she was a

tireless advocate in support of creating a green and sustainable building; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby honors and thanks Kathryn E. Ryan for her ten years of devoted service with the Friends

of Tiverton Libraries Board and to the Tiverton community. We furthermore wish her continued

success in all future endeavors in her new home in Port Townsend, Washington; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Kathryn E. Ryan.
