S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF HENRY A. WALSH, JR.

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness and profound sympathy that this Senate has learned

2

of the passing of Henry A. Walsh, Jr., the beloved husband of our friend and former colleague,

3

the Honorable Donna Walsh, to whom he had been married just a few days short of fifty-four

4

years. He was a loving father to his son, Henry and daughter-in-law, Dawn, and the proud

5

grandfather of Amanda and her husband, Kelven Farnham, and his great-granddaughter, Maura;

6

and

7

     WHEREAS, Henry Walsh was born in New Jersey, a son of the late Harry and Mary

8

Walsh. He was the brother of Joe Walsh and his wife, Jean, Maureen Schuster, and the late

9

Robert and Edward Walsh; and

10

     WHEREAS, A graduate of Hun School in New Jersey and Rutgers University, Mr.

11

Walsh had served our nation with honor in the United States Army. He had been employed as a

12

Marketing Representative for McGraw Hill Publishing Co. until his retirement, and had

13

previously worked with Connecticut General Life Insurance; and

14

     WHEREAS, An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Walsh enjoyed hunting ducks, pheasants and

15

deer with his companion, Hanna, a beautiful black Labrador retriever. He was also an avid

16

fisherman, angling both fresh and saltwater; and

17

     WHEREAS, Mr. Walsh was an active and contributing member of the community. He

18

held numerous elected positions within the community including, serving on the Chariho School

19

Committee, as Town Sergeant, and for twenty-four years, he presided over financial meetings as

20

Town Moderator. In addition, he was a member of the American Society of Parliamentarians and

the Charlestown Democratic Town Committee; and

2

     WHEREAS, Henry Walsh was a devoted family man and a steadfast gentleman who set a

3

standard for excellence in public service that is an inspiration to us all. He enriched the lives of

4

all who knew him and he will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it

5

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

6

hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Henry A. Walsh; and be it further

7

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

8

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Donna Walsh and Family.
