EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF DORIS SHELDON BLANEY

     WHEREAS, Doris Sheldon Blaney was born in Providence, Rhode Island, daughter of

2

the late Lincoln S. and Lenora Lewis Sheldon. She graduated from East Providence High School

3

and, in 1944, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving our nation with honor and valor

4

during World War II; and

5

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Blaney spent most of her life living in South County. She worked for

6

the Town of Narragansett and later served as the Town Treasurer. She was one of the original

7

members of The Club, a devoted Cub Scout Den Mother for Narragansett Pack 1, and was a

8

member of the VFW Post #916 Wakefield. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, genealogy,

9

antiques, and arts and crafts, especially cross stitching and knitting. She also enjoyed selling her

10

custom knitted gloves at the South Kingstown Farmer’s Market; and

11

     WHEREAS, Doris Sheldon Blaney was the wife of the late Russell W. Blaney. She is

12

survived by her five children, Jonathan L. Blaney and his wife, Sarah, David R. Blaney and his

13

companion, Kendel Currier, Stephen W. Blaney and his wife, Sheryl, Mark S. Blaney and his

14

wife, Deborah Gordon, and Linda E. Blaney and her companion Ben Rhodes. She is also survived

15

by her six grandsons, Nathan Blaney and his wife Kathy, Patrick Blaney and his wife, Lisa,

16

Christian Blaney and his wife, Cathy, Timothy Blaney, Wesley Blaney and his wife Jill, and Josh

17

Blaney, her six granddaughters, Allyson DeKoekkoek and her husband, Jordan, Megan Blaney

18

and her fiancé, Shannon O’Leary, Annie Gordon, Jenny Gordon, Katherine Balmforth and her

19

fiancé, Doug, Sarah Balmforth, her thirteen great-grandchildren, and her loving friends Christine

20

Blaney, Anne-Marie Davis, Karen Blaney, and Jeanne Blaney; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

2

hereby expresses its condolences to the Blaney Family on the passing of Doris Sheldon Blaney;

3

and be it further

4

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

5

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Jonathan L. Blaney, David R. Blaney, Stephen

6

W. Blaney, Mark S. Blaney, and Linda E. Blaney.
