EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES TO THE KOCH FAMILY ON THE PASSING OF PETER

ALFRED KOCH

     WHEREAS, Peter Alfred Koch passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015, surrounded

2

by his family. He was the husband of the late Marite (Kelly) Koch. Mr. Koch was born in

3

Providence, Rhode Island, the son of the late Peter and Dorothy (Giovine) Koch. He was raised in

4

West Warwick and lived in Warwick for the past forty years; and

5

     WHEREAS, Peter Koch graduated from Bishop Hendricken High School, and the

6

College of the Holy Cross. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Koch Eye Associates for the

7

past thirty years. He was an esteemed and beloved figure in the community who devoted much of

8

his time in service to others. He was a board member of the Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership,

9

Coastway Community Bank, Candescent Holdings, LLC, Sargent Rehabilitation Center,

10

Workforce Partnership of Greater Rhode Island, and Button Hole Golf; and

11

     WHEREAS, Mr. Koch had an abiding love and passion for the game of golf. He was a

12

member of the Carnegie Abbey Club, Skibo Castle in Dornoch, Scotland, and Fiddlesticks

13

Country Club in Fort Myers, Florida. Some of his happiest moments in life were achieved on the

14

golf course. He made six holes-in-one in his lifetime, made par on every hole at the world

15

renowned and quite difficult Pebble Beach Golf Links and most recently won the World Senior

16

Amateur Championship in Provence, France. Peter loved to play golf and travel, but his greatest

17

and most rewarding calling in life was being a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather,

18

and friend; and

19

     WHEREAS, Peter Koch leaves behind four children: Kelly Koch, Amy Flynn and her

husband, Stephen, Kristen Koch and Peter Koch, Jr. Mr. Koch is survived by his brother, Paul S.

2

Koch, M.D., and his wife Joanne, and his sister, D. Patricia Koch, O.D. Peter also leaves behind a

3

granddaughter, Brooke Flynn, fourteen nieces and nephews, and his granddog, Maeby; now,

4

therefore be it

5

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

6

hereby expresses its condolences to the Koch family on the passing of Peter Alfred Koch; and be

7

it further

8

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

9

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Kelly Koch, Amy Flynn, Kristen Koch, Peter

10

Koch, Jr., Paul S. Koch, M.D., and D. Patricia Koch, O.D.
