HONORING JENNIFER AND CHRISTOPHER LEPINE ON BEING NAMED THE 2015 | |
"PATRIOTS OF THE YEAR" BY THE UNITED VETERANS' COUNCIL OF WOONSOCKET | |

1 | WHEREAS, The United Veterans' Council of Woonsocket bestows the title of "Patriot of |
2 | the Year" on individuals in the community who have made major contributions to honoring our |
3 | local veterans. The 2015 recipients of this prestigious title are twin siblings, Jennifer and |
4 | Christopher Lepine; and |
5 | WHEREAS, With a desire to have a real impact on the community, and having a |
6 | grandfather who was in the service, Jennifer and Christopher Lepine chose to organize the |
7 | building of a park that would provide a permanent home for the City of Woonsocket's veteran |
8 | ceremonies and observances in order to fulfill the requirements for earning their Girl Scout Gold |
9 | and Eagle Scout Awards; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Jennifer focused on marketing the project, while her brother Christopher |
11 | planned the construction portion. The twins contributed to the physical labor which included |
12 | spending their weekend hours, for many months, digging dirt, planting bushes, raking leaves, |
13 | spreading loam, making cement, raising flagpoles, and getting benches assembled; and |
14 | WHEREAS, The completion of the job was a city-wide effort, with numerous man hours |
15 | donated by a plethora of volunteers, the support of the City of Woonsocket, an initial grant of |
16 | $10,000 dollars, and sponsorship by the United Veterans' Council of Woonsocket. The half-acre |
17 | lot was dedicated "to the men and women of our community who served our country in times of |
18 | peace and war, and especially to those who gave their lives in that service" on Veteran’s Day, |
19 | November 11th, 2014; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Jennifer and Christopher Lepine are eminently deserving of the accolades |
2 | and regard they have been afforded and have fully distinguished themselves as persons worthy of |
3 | our recognition; now, therefore be it |
4 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
5 | hereby recognizes and congratulates Jennifer and Christopher Lepine on being the recipients of |
6 | the "Patriot of the Year" Award from the United Veterans' Council of Woonsocket. We moreover |
7 | extend our deepest appreciation for their service and extend our best wishes for their continued |
8 | success, health, and happiness; and be it further |
9 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
10 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Miss Jennifer Lepine and Mr. Christopher |
11 | Lepine. |
