S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING AND HONORING ROSEMARY BOOTH GALLOGLY FOR HER

DEDICATED AND EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF

RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, Rosemary Booth Gallogly, Director of the Department of Revenue for the

State of Rhode Island, has led a life replete with civic devotion and honest hard work; and

     WHEREAS, In preparation for her future accomplishments, Ms. Gallogly received her

undergraduate degree with distinction, and her Master's degree in Business Administration from

the University of Rhode Island; and

     WHEREAS, In 1980, Ms. Gallogly began working with the state's Budget Office as an

Assistant Budget Analyst Trainee. A whirlwind of energy and a truly brilliant individual, she

worked as a Budget Officer for nine years and was later promoted to the position of Director of

Administration and named the Acting Director of Department of Revenue; and

     WHEREAS, In 2010, Ms. Gallogly was appointed Director for the Rhode Island

Department of Revenue by then-Governor Chafee who praised her work stating that she was

"universally praised by those who have worked with and for her." Over the course of her career,

she has served under six Governors and has devoted three and a half decades in service to our

state; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Gallogly's many responsibilities include the administration and

evaluation of the state's revenue policies and practices, and the lottery system, and financial

oversight of the state's municipalities; and

     WHEREAS, A vital member of several commissions and organizations Ms. Gallogly is a

member of the State Investment Commission, the Public Finance Management Board, the

Tobacco Settlement Financing Corporation, and Director of the Eastern Region of the National

Association of State Budget Officers, to name just a few; and

     WHEREAS, Over the course of her career, Ms. Gallogly has earned a plethora of honors

and awards for her contributions and achievements including, the Robert M. Goodrich

Distinguished Public Service Award from the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council and the

Gloria Timmer Award; and

     WHEREAS, The life and accomplishments of Rosemary Booth Gallogly stand as

testament to her commitment to serving our state. She is a woman of unsurpassed character and

has earned the unqualified admiration and respect of all who have been privileged enough to

work by her side; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby congratulates and honors Rosemary Booth Gallogly for thirty-five years of dedicated

service to the people of the state. We applaud her myriad accomplishments, and wish her good

health, much happiness, and some well-earned time to spend with her husband, Bill, and her

daughters, Victoria and Katarina; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Rosemary Booth Gallogly.
