DEDICATED VOLUNTEER SERVICE ON BEHALF OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF | |

1 | WHEREAS, The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) is a national organization |
2 | with a long and distinguished history of social justice advocacy, volunteerism, philanthropy, and |
3 | working tirelessly to safeguard individual rights and freedoms, and to protect and improve the |
4 | lives of women, children, and families; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Ellie Elbaum began her distinguished career of civic volunteerism while |
6 | living in Japan with her family as a young lady. In her many years of service to the National |
7 | Jewish Council of Women she has served as Co-President since 2008, and has worked tirelessly |
8 | on numerous issues crucial to the well-being of women and children. In particular, she has |
9 | worked hard to educate the public about vital issues that impact women and children, including |
10 | human trafficking, domestic violence, and teen bullying. Thanks to her diligence and support, |
11 | women and children live safer and more secure lives today; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Elbaum has also served our community with distinction in other |
13 | community activities. She was the Director of Pediatric Patient Services at Hasbro Children's |
14 | Hospital and was deeply involved in the development and design of the Hasbro Children's |
15 | Hospital. She was very active in the Jewish Federation of Rhode Island and was the President of |
16 | its Women’s Business Division. Mrs. Elbaum is the wife of Charles Elbaum, and she is the |
17 | mother of three sons; now, therefore be it |
18 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
19 | hereby honors Ellie Elbaum for her many years of exemplary and dedicated volunteer service on |

1 | behalf of the National Council of Jewish Women; and be it further |
2 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
3 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Ellie Elbaum. |
