CONGRATULATING THE ST. MARY ACADEMY-BAY VIEW GIRLS' BASKETBALL
TEAM ON WINNING THE 2015 RHODE ISLAND GIRLS BASKETBALL STATE
TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP
| |
Introduced By: Senators Lombardi, Conley, Walaska, Felag, and DaPonte
Date Introduced: May 14, 2015

4 | WHEREAS, Bay View entered this year’s tournament as the second-seeded squad after |
5 | compiling an outstanding regular season record. In the first game of the Tournament, they |
6 | dominated Mt. St. Charles, winning easily by the score of 70 to 39. After dispatching Coventry by |
7 | the score of 58 to 40, Bay View faced St. Raphael in the Final Four, with the winner advancing to |
8 | the State Championship game. In a hard-fought contest, the Bengals came back from a two-point |
9 | halftime deficit to defeat St. Raphael 55 to 52 and win the right to face their arch-rival, La Salle, |
10 | for the State Championship; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Trailing by seven points at halftime in the championship game, Bay View |
12 | came out storming in the second half, using an aggressive defense to lead a 15 to 4 run early in |
13 | the second half that eventually led to them pulling away from La Salle and winning in dominating |
14 | fashion by the score of 54 to 39. Bay View's stifling defense stopped any La Salle player from |

19 | the expense of individual accomplishments. St. Mary Academy-Bay View has those kinds of |
| |
1 | players in abundance as they benefitted all season by the contributions given from players Jazlyn |
2 | Contreras, Rylee Leonard, Blaine Lynch-Gadaleta, Elfreda Hoff, Dyamond Azakpo, Erin Dillon, |
