It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 28-12 of the General Laws entitled "Minimum Wages" is hereby |
2 | amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 28-12-3.3. Minimum wages for employees of developmental disabilities |
4 | organizations. -- Commencing January 1, 2017, every covered employer providing services to |
5 | persons with developmental disabilities, that are reimbursed for such services by the state, shall |
6 | pay each of their employees, at least fifteen dollars ($15.00) per hour. For the purposes of this |
7 | section, covered employers are those developmental disability organizations licensed to provide |
8 | services pursuant to chapter 24 of title 40.1. |
9 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
