EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF MILTON P. HANNAH | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Milton |
2 | Hannah, a longtime resident of the City of Providence, who was fondly known as the "Mayor of |
3 | Benefit Street"; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Milton Hannah was the son of the late Milton P. and Ethyl Mary Hannah, |
5 | and the uncle of Donna Daniels, Heather Walley, and Michael Walley, and the grand uncle of |
6 | Aszur Hill and Jason Walley; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Mr. Hannah had served our country with honor and distinction in the United |
8 | States Navy. He was a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design where he had earned his |
9 | degree in Industrial Design. He began his career as a silver designer at Reed and Barton in |
10 | Taunton, Massachusetts, and forty years later, retired as the company's Merchandise Manager; |
11 | and |
12 | WHEREAS, Always an active and contributing member of the community, Mr. Hannah |
13 | was active in a panoply of local organizations including the Providence Preservation Society, the |
14 | Fox Point Neighborhood Association, Keep Providence Beautiful, and the Providence Art Club; |
15 | and |
16 | WHEREAS, Milton Hannah was a steadfast gentleman who enriched the lives of all who |
17 | knew him and he will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it |

1 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2 | Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Milton P. |
3 | Hannah. |
