H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHIES AND CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF

RUSSELL M. SOLLITTO, ESQ.

     WHEREAS, It is with the deepest sense of sadness that this House of Representatives has

learned of the passing of our good friend and colleague, Russell Sollitto, a devoted family man,

and a highly respected attorney; and

     WHEREAS, A resident of Tiverton, Russ had shared thirty-four years with his beloved

wife Lise J. Gescheidt, Esq., and is also survived by his ever-faithful canine companions; and

     WHEREAS, Russ earned his Bachelor's degree from Emerson College and his Juris

Doctor from Franklin Pierce College. He was admitted into the Rhode Island Bar Association and

practiced Criminal Law for a number of years; and

     WHEREAS, Russ began his employment with the State of Rhode Island on January 24th

of 1994. He worked for the Office of Attorney General and as an Assistant Public Defender. In

December of 2006, he became the Special Projects Coordinator for the General Assembly. He

was most recently an attorney in the Office of Legislative Council; and

     WHEREAS, Although Russ had battled with his health over the course of the last few

years, his courage, optimism, and dignity throughout his illness was inspiring; and

     WHEREAS, A steadfast gentleman, Russ's recent passing is a great loss to his family,

friends, and his former colleagues here at the State House. He will be sorely missed and fondly

remembered; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby extends its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Russell

M. Sollitto, Esq.; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Lise J. Gescheidt, Esq., and Family.
