EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES TO THE RICHARDSON FAMILY ON THE PASSING OF | |

1 | WHEREAS, Charlotte S. Richardson was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, the |
2 | daughter of the late Charles and Mary Smith. She was the loving wife of Victor C. Richardson for |
3 | sixty-eight years; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Richardson worked professionally as an expert bookkeeper in |
5 | Providence and for New Visions in Newport. She later retired as the Executive Director of the |
6 | Jamestown Senior Center after twenty-two years of distinguished and devoted service; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Richardson also had an esteemed public service career. She was the |
8 | first Republican woman elected to the Jamestown Town Council and served her constituents for |
9 | multiple terms with integrity and exemplary service. She served as a member of the American |
10 | Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Business and Professional Women's Association, Jamestown |
11 | Chapter, and was a member and served on the Board of the Conanicut Grange and Pomona |
12 | Grange. She also was a member of the Beavertail Lighthouse Museum Association and served as |
13 | secretary; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Richardson, in her free time, enjoyed painting and reading to her |
15 | grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to play the piano and the accordion, and |
16 | took great pleasure in playing the piano for the summer Conanicut Yacht Club Youth Group, and |
17 | for the Forest Farm Nursing Home; and |
18 | WHEREAS, In addition to her husband, Victor, Mrs. Richardson leaves behind four |
19 | daughters, Karen Richardson, Gaelyn Bunker and her husband, Wayne, Kim Whittenhall and her |

1 | husband, Wayne, and Pam Jarret, and two brothers, Albert Smith, and Charles Smith. She also |
2 | leaves behind four grandchildren, Jennelle Goodburn and her husband, David, Marisa Grondin |
3 | and her husband, Jimi, Lucien Jarret and his wife, Kim, and Elena Hughes and her husband, |
4 | Steve. She was the sister of the late James Smith. She also leaves many nieces and nephews; now, |
5 | therefore be it |
6 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
7 | Providence Plantations hereby expresses its condolences to the Richardson Family on the passing |
8 | of Charlotte S. Richardson; and be it further |
9 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
10 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Victor C. Richardson. |
