EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES TO THE BRADY FAMILY ON THE PASSING OF | |

1 | WHEREAS, Margaret "Peg" H. Brady was born in Taunton, Massachusetts on June 11, |
2 | 1928. She was the daughter of the late F. Hamilton and Margaret V. Lane and sister of the late |
3 | Hamilton Lane, II. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1946 and from Emmanuel |
4 | College, Boston, in 1950, attaining a degree in English. She taught elementary grades in Taunton |
5 | and in the Aquidneck Island schools until she married John F. Brady in 1952, and moved to |
6 | Middletown, Rhode Island, where they raised four children; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Brady was a lover of outdoor sports her entire life. She enjoyed skiing, |
8 | swimming, playing tennis, and cruising and racing sailboats. She started the Newport Ski Club in |
9 | 1955 with her husband and together they taught their four children and nine grandchildren how to |
10 | ski at the club lodge in Vermont. She was also a volunteer at the Newport Tennis Hall of Fame |
11 | for twenty-five years. She and her husband were also members of the Tiverton Yacht Club for |
12 | fifty years; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Brady was also a woman of faith who was devoted to her church and |
14 | to supporting various community charities. She and her husband were founding members of St. |
15 | Barnabas Church in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. She taught in the Church's Religious Education |
16 | Program and, for many years, was its volunteer director. She was a daily communicant and was |
17 | an active member of the church's St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was also a member of the |
18 | Newport Hospital Auxiliary and chaired the Newport Hospital Ball and ran its horticultural |
19 | therapy program. Additionally, she was a member of the Portsmouth Glen Manor House |

1 | Authority for more than twenty-five years, participating in numerous fundraising and other |
2 | activities to support the restoration and preservation of the Glen Manor House; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Brady was famous for her delicious homemade "Nana cookies," and |
4 | for the treats she always mailed to her grandchildren for every holiday. She was also her |
5 | grandchildren's number one cheerleader and supporter at all of their extra-curricular activities. |
6 | Most importantly, Mrs. Brady was a loving wife, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a loyal |
7 | friend who was adored by all who knew her; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Brady leaves behind her husband of almost sixty-four years, John F. |
9 | Brady. She also leaves behind her children, Anne M. Brady and her partner, Kevin Oakes, |
10 | Kathleen T. Brady, Patricia M. Brady, and Mary Helene Chaplin and her husband, Todd. She was |
11 | the beloved grandmother of nine grandchildren, Kristen Romanelli and husband, David |
12 | Kociemba, Meghan Romanelli and wife, Karen Wollemborg, Mikaela Romanelli, Katharine |
13 | Wilhelm, Kiera Wilhelm, Abigail Wilhelm, Allison Chaplin, Melissa Chaplin, and Andrew |
14 | Chaplin; now, therefore be it |
15 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
16 | Providence Plantations hereby expresses our condolences to the Brady Family on the passing of |
17 | Margaret "Peg" H. Brady; and be it further |
18 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
19 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to John F. Brady and Family. |
