EXPRESSING SYMPATHY ON THE PASSING OF BEATRICE YOLANDE TEMKIN | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Beatrice |
2 | Yolande Temkin, beloved wife of the late Martin M. Temkin, and the cherished mother of Donna |
3 | Paolino and husband, Arthur Coia, Lisa Temkin Nisky and her husband, Michael Nisky, and the |
4 | former Ambassador of Malta and former Mayor of Providence Joseph Paolino, Jr. and his wife, |
5 | Lianne; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Temkin doted on her grandchildren who lovingly called her their |
7 | "Nonnie." Her grandchildren include: Mari Marchionte Bianco and her husband, Angelo Bianco, |
8 | Kara Marchionte, Jennifer Romano and her husband, Jon Romano, Christina Paolino, Jacqueline |
9 | Paolino, Joseph R. Paolino III, and Dylan and Leland Nisky. She was also blessed with twin |
10 | great-grandsons Angelo Joseph and Nicholas Bianco, their sister Brooklyn Beatrice, and Leo |
11 | Joseph Romano; and |
12 | WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the City of Providence, Bea Temkin was the daughter |
13 | of the late Judge Luigi and Marie DePasquale, and the sister of Eva DePasquale Zito and the late |
14 | Marie DePasquale Pucci. She was a graduate of Classical High School, attended the University of |
15 | Rhode Island, and was awarded a certification of Lay Ministry from Providence College; and |
16 | WHEREAS, In addition to creating a warm and nurturing home for her family, Mrs. |
17 | Temkin had been the first Assistant Director of First Night Providence, Director of Volunteers for |
18 | the Rhode Island Medical Center and was the Society Editor for Rhode Island Monthly; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Temkin was also active with a plethora of altruistic endeavors and |
20 | organizations including serving as the Vice President of The AIDS Project, on the Board of |

1 | Directors for the Cranston YMCA, a Board Member of Friends of PPAC, Holy Name Parish |
2 | Council, and Roger Williams Park and Zoological Society, President and Gala Chair for Miriam |
3 | Hospital-Women's Association, the Fundraising Chair for the Jewish Home for the Aged |
4 | Women's Association, Liturgical Chairman and Eucharistic Minister at the In-Sight Rhode Island |
5 | Association of the Blind, a newscaster for the Rhode Island Food Bank, a volunteer for the Rhode |
6 | Island Cerebral Palsy Association, a fundraiser for RISD Museum, and a communicant of Our |
7 | Lady of Lourdes Church; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Exuding charm and a delightful sense of humor, Bea Temkin exemplified |
9 | grace, panache, and unique style. She adored literature, the theatre and the arts, and she loved to |
10 | travel; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Bea Temkin was a beautiful, sophisticated and confident woman. She was |
12 | the heart and soul of her family and will forever be indelibly imprinted on the lives and in the |
13 | cherished memories of all who had the good fortune to have known her; now, therefore be it |
14 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
15 | Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Beatrice |
16 | Yolande Temkin; and be it further |
17 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
18 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Donna Paolino and Arthur Coia, Lisa Temkin |
19 | Nisky and Michael Nisky, and the Honorable Joseph and Lianne Paolino, Jr. |
