THANKING CHIEF AARON MARSLAND OF THE FOSTER CENTER VOLUNTEER FIRE | |
DEPARTMENT FOR HIS TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF MERITORIOUS SERVICE TO THE | |
CITIZENS OF FOSTER, RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, Chief Aaron Marsland of the Foster Center Volunteer Fire Department is a |
2 | dedicated and exemplary Public Safety Officer who has served the people of Foster, Rhode |
3 | Island, for the past twenty-five years with honor, integrity and tireless devotion; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Chief Marsland began his distinguished public safety service career at the |
5 | young age of 14, when he served as a Junior Firefighter. Since then, he has served in a number of |
6 | capacities within the Foster Center Volunteer Fire Department, holding the ranks of Chief |
7 | Engineer, Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief and Chief and his current position of Chief; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Chief Marsland is an innovative and inspirational leader who has had |
9 | numerous accomplishments during his public service career. He has written numerous grants, |
10 | acquired a Hummer motor vehicle at no cost to the department, and was able to utilize it to help |
11 | fight forest fires and transport personnel in bad weather, and prudently purchased Scott bottles for |
12 | his firefighters at a very low cost to the taxpayers. He is a licensed Ham Radio operator who was |
13 | able to add 800mhz radios at no cost to the town, which will allow the Fire Department to |
14 | significantly improve its communication with other towns; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Chief Marsland is a devoted public leader who is a well-respected and |
16 | beloved figure within the Town of Foster. Both the general public and the men and women under |
17 | his command have a deep appreciation for the service he has provided to them and the Town of |
18 | Foster. Chief Marsland loves helping people and he always makes the safety of those under his |
19 | command and the citizens of Foster the first priority in his life; now, therefore be it |

1 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2 | Providence Plantations hereby thanks Chief Aaron Marsland of the Foster Center Volunteer Fire |
3 | Department for his twenty-five years of exemplary and dedicated service to the citizens of Foster; |
4 | and be it further |
5 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
6 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Chief Aaron Marsland, Foster Center Volunteer |
7 | Fire Department. |
