HONORING NOLAN BYRNE, R.N., ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT | |

1 | WHEREAS, Nursing requires tremendous compassion, competence, and caring, |
2 | resultantly, it was totally suited to the talents and sensibilities of Nolan Byrne. She is a board |
3 | certified nurse care manager and has a certificate in Gerontology; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Ms. Byrne started her career with the state in 1989, but she had already |
5 | spent many years in various components of the health care delivery system. Her earliest days as a |
6 | nurse were as the Infection Control Nurse at Zambarano Hospital. She has also worked at |
7 | Landmark Hospital, the Department of Health, Harvard Pilgrim Health Plan and United Health |
8 | Care; and |
9 | WHEREAS, In 2000, Ms. Byrne joined the staff of the Executive Office of Health and |
10 | Human Services (EOHHS) where she has spent the past 16 years in a variety of roles, but always |
11 | ensuring that the families, elders and disabled Medicaid recipients she worked with received all |
12 | the services that were available to them. Her colleagues at EOHHS have often commented that if |
13 | they ever needed a health care advocate, they would choose her; and |
14 | WHEREAS, During her tenure at EOHHS, Ms. Byrne's many roles included managing |
15 | the Katie Beckett Program, serving as the Nurse Manager for the Rite @ Home Program and |
16 | helping ensure participants in the Communities of Care Program received all their needed |
17 | medications. She also served as the EOHHS designated contact to solve any concerns raised by |
18 | public officials such as Congressional Representatives, General Assembly members or the |
19 | Governor's Office; and |
20 | WHEREAS, Throughout the course of her career, Nurse Byrne has particularly enjoyed |

1 | working with the elderly and disabled. She possesses an innate ability to solve all problems, big |
2 | and small and has always gone above and beyond to learn what her clients needed and to make |
3 | sure those needs were met; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Nolan Byrne, R.N. has had a long and rewarding career in helping ensure |
5 | Rhode Islanders get the best possible health care and her service to the people of this state is |
6 | eminently worthy of our gratitude and recognition; now, therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
8 | Providence Plantations hereby recognizes and honors Nolan Byrne, R.N. on the occasion of her |
9 | retirement. We thank her for all her efforts, and wish her good health, fulfillment and much |
10 | success in all her future endeavors; and be it further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
12 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Nolan Byrne, R.N. |
