CONGRATULATING KATE DEPETRO ON BEING NAMED THE 2016 MISS RHODE

ISLAND OUTSTANDING TEEN

     WHEREAS, Accomplished young women from across the state participated in the 2016

Annual Miss Rhode Island Outstanding Teen Pageant held on May 22nd at the Casino Theater in

Newport; and

     WHEREAS, East Greenwich's own homegrown beauty, Kate DePetro, was crowned the

winner after earning the judges acclaim with her rendition of "Popular" from the acclaimed

theatrical production "Wicked"; and

     WHEREAS, With a platform of "Make a Difference, Make it Positive, Make it Today!",

Kate, who had already earned the title of Miss West Bay Outstanding Teen, edged out five other

contestants to capture the state crown; and

     WHEREAS, Kate is a 16 year old student at East Greenwich High School and is the

daughter of WPRO host John DePetro; and

     WHEREAS, Between family, school, friends, and the pageants, Kate's life is in constant

movement and her future looks bright and promising; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Kate DePetro on being named the 2016 Miss Rhode

Island Outstanding Teen. We moreover extend our sincere wishes for her happiness and good

health, and the best of luck in the upcoming national competition at the Boardwalk Hall in

Atlantic City; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Miss Kate DePetro.
