CREATING A SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE COMMISSION TO STUDY AND MAKE | |
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE DESIGN AND PLACEMENT OF A PLAQUE TO HONOR | |
ALL RHODE ISLAND WOMEN WHO ARE VETERANS OF THE UNITED STATES | |

1 | RESOLVED, That a special legislative commission be and the same is hereby created |
2 | consisting of five (5) members: one of whom shall be the Chairman of the House Veterans' |
3 | Affairs Committee, who shall serve as Chair of the commission; and four (4) of whom shall be |
4 | women veterans from Rhode Island who have served in the United States Armed Forces, to be |
5 | appointed by the Speaker of the House. |
6 | In lieu of any appointment of a member of the legislature to a permanent advisory |
7 | commission, a legislative study commission, or any commission created by a General Assembly |
8 | resolution, the appointing authority may appoint a member of the general public to serve in lieu |
9 | of a legislator, provided that the majority leader or the minority leader of the political party which |
10 | is entitled to the appointment consents to the member of the general public. |
11 | The purpose of said commission shall be to make a comprehensive study and provide |
12 | recommendations for the design and placement of a plaque to honor all Rhode Island women who |
13 | are veterans of the United States Armed Forces. |
14 | Forthwith upon passage of this resolution, the members of the commission shall meet at |
15 | the call of the Speaker of the House and organize. |
16 | Vacancies in said commission shall be filled in like manner as the original appointment. |
17 | The membership of said commission shall receive no compensation for their services. |
18 | All departments and agencies of the state, shall furnish such advice and information, |

1 | documentary and otherwise, to said commission and its agents as is deemed necessary or |
2 | desirable by the commission to facilitate the purposes of this resolution. |
3 | The Speaker of the House is hereby authorized and directed to provide suitable quarters |
4 | for said commission; and be it further |
5 | RESOLVED, That the commission shall report its findings and recommendations to the |
6 | House of Representatives no later than February 28, 2017, and said commission shall expire on |
7 | May 28, 2017. |
