HONORING REPRESENTATIVE DANIEL P. REILLY FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE | |
OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel P. Reilly has served with honor and distinction in the |
2 | Rhode Island House of Representatives for two terms, as the Representative for District 72, |
3 | representing citizens in neighborhoods in Middletown, Newport, and Portsmouth. He has the |
4 | distinction of being one of the youngest members to be elected to the House; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Originally from Boca Raton, Florida, where he graduated from St. Andrew's |
6 | School, Representative Reilly earned his Bachelor's degree from Providence College in 2012, and |
7 | firmly proving his ability to multi-task, he attained his Juris Doctorate degree from Roger |
8 | Williams University School of Law in 2015, while serving in the General Assembly; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Winning his first foray into politics, Representative Reilly, was originally |
10 | elected to the Rhode Island General Assembly in November of 2010, and was re-elected in |
11 | November of 2014; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Representative Reilly is a Member of the House Finance Committee, the |
13 | House Subcommittees on Environment/Transportation, the House Subcommittee on Public |
14 | Safety, the House Oversight Committee and the House Rules Committee; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Representative Reilly has been instrumental in introducing numerous pieces |
16 | of legislation including acts that would exempt military pensions from the Rhode Island state |
17 | income tax, a bill to establish an Office of Inspector General with the purpose of preventing and |
18 | detecting fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement of public funds, and legislation that would |
19 | require the governor to submit a zero-based budget to be phased out in over five years; and |

1 | WHEREAS, In addition to long hours at the State House, Representative Reilly is an |
2 | attorney and an emergency medical technician, and is engaged to marry Dr. Alexandra Costa; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Representative Reilly's civic and community involvement includes |
4 | membership in numerous local and professional groups including: the Portsmouth Economic |
5 | Development Committee, the Town of Portsmouth Elmhurst Planning Committee and the Town |
6 | of Portsmouth Lower Glen Farm Preservation Committee and Glen Park Working Committee. He |
7 | is also a member of the National Eagle Scouts Association, Save the Bay, the Aquidneck Island |
8 | Land Trust, the Bristol Fire Department and the Norman Bird Sanctuary; and |
9 | WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel P. Reilly has brought youthful enthusiasm, legal |
10 | erudition, and a tremendous work ethic to the General Assembly during his years in office. His |
11 | service to the citizens of Middletown, Newport, Portsmouth, and the state, has ultimately made |
12 | Rhode Island a better place to live and flourish; now, therefore be it |
13 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
14 | Providence Plantations hereby honors and thanks Representative Daniel P. Reilly for four years |
15 | of dedicated service enriching the quality of life for all the citizens of Rhode Island. We wish him |
16 | the very best health, happiness and success in all his future endeavors; and be it further |
17 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
18 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Daniel P. Reilly. |
