RELATING TO LABOR AND LABOR RELATIONS -- PAYMENT OF WAGES

     Introduced By: Senators Lombardi, Archambault, McCaffrey, DiPalma, and Ciccone

     Referred To: Senate Labor

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 28-14-18.4 of the General Laws in Chapter 28-14 entitled "Payment

of Wages" is hereby amended to read as follows:

     28-14-18.4. Extension of protection. -- The protections set forth in § 28-14-18 and the

relief and damages for violations set forth in §§ 28-14-18.1 and 28-14-18.2 §§28-14-19.2 and 28-

14-19.3 shall also apply to §§28-41-35(f) and (g) and to chapters 3, 6, 12, and 18 of this title and

to chapter 23 of title 5.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

RELATING TO LABOR AND LABOR RELATIONS -- PAYMENT OF WAGES

     This act would eliminate the references to now deleted provisions and substitute the

correct, revised statutory references and provide a mechanism to enforce the existing right to

continuation of medical benefits and to reinstatement for workers returning from temporary care

giver leave.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
