S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING THE NORTHWEST COMPETITIVE CHEER'S U12 SQUAD ON

WINNING THE STATE, REGIONAL, AND NATIONAL AMERICAN YOUTH CHEER

CHAMPIONSHIPS

     WHEREAS, It is fitting that this Senate recognizes those young people who have exalted

themselves through their talents and unflagging commitment to excellence in their chosen field;

and

     WHEREAS, Distinction and success in cheer competitions can only be achieved through

strenuous practice, team play and spirit, dedicated coaching, and confidence. This year's

NorthWest Competitive Cheer's U12 Squad had those qualities in abundance as they won the

cheerleading "trifecta," taking home the Blackstone Valley American Youth Cheer, New England

Regional, and National Championship trophies; and

     WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical development of

young people, and prepares them for a brighter future by instilling the value of teamwork, the

desire for success, a routine of healthy living, and a sense of fair play; and

     WHEREAS, In order to achieve these goals, a group of volunteer moms and dads, who

were committed to their children, the sport of cheerleading, and fun and healthy competition,

founded NorthWest Cheer three short years ago. Already, the organization has almost 70 girls

and their families participating and have now represented our state twice on a national level; and

     WHEREAS, This year, the NorthWest Competitive Cheer's U12 Squad experienced a

momentous achievement that very few people would even dare to imagine and their

accomplishment surely bodes well for their future success. We are proud to honor their triumph;

now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby enthusiastically congratulates the NorthWest Competitive Cheer's U12 Squad on their

outstanding season winning the Blackstone Valley American Youth Cheer, the New England

Regional, and the National Cheerleading Championship. We furthermore wish them good health,

much happiness, and continued success in all their future endeavors; and be it further

      RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Juli Dexter, Coach of the NorthWest

Competitive Cheer's U12 Squad.
