EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ROBERT M. SANGREY, SR. | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Robert |
2 | Sangrey, Sr., beloved husband of the late Arlene Sangrey, and the devoted father of Robert |
3 | Sangrey, Jr., and his wife, Tammy, Barbara Scheaffer and her husband, Frank, Susan Showalter |
4 | and her husband, Donald, Jr., Shirley Cristino and her husband, Marco, and John Sangrey and his |
5 | wife, JoAnn. He was also the proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren and seven great- |
6 | grandchildren; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Mr. Sangrey was born in Lancaster County, a son of the late Charles and |
8 | Orphia Sangrey. He was the brother of Harold Buzz and the late Virginia Deverter. He was |
9 | educated and grew up in New Providence, and was a longtime resident of East Petersburg, and |
10 | most recently, at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown; and |
11 | WHEREAS, In March of 1951, Mr. Sangrey enlisted in the United States Army. He |
12 | fought with the 5th Cavalry Regiment in the Korean War, was wounded in action, and received |
13 | an Honorable Discharge. He was also awarded a Bronze Service Star and the Purple Heart Medal |
14 | for his service; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Shortly upon his return stateside, Mr. Sangrey met the love of his life, and |
16 | future wife, Arlene, on a blind date. The couple were married on May 10, 1952; and |
17 | WHEREAS, A hard working man, who was devoted to his family and dedicated to his |
18 | community, Mr. Sangrey drove a truck for Jones Express and Martys Express, and in his |
19 | retirement, he worked part-time shuttling rental trucks for Penske. He was a member of the |
20 | Central Pennsylvania Teamsters Union Local 771, a Master Mason with the Washington Lodge |

1 | #156, F. & A. M., Quarryville, and a member of the Lancaster Lodge of Perfection-Valley of |
2 | Lancaster and the Harrisburg Consistory; and |
3 | WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Sangrey was an avid camper with the PA |
4 | Roadrunners Camping Club, and had spent many wonderful hours creating wood crafts in his |
5 | workshop and relaxing on the front porch of his home; and |
6 | WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Robert Sangrey, Sr., left this world a far better place |
7 | because of his life’s endeavors. He was a steadfast gentleman, whose integrity and determination |
8 | enriched the lives of all who knew him and was an inspiration to us all; now, therefore be it |
9 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
10 | hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Robert Sangrey, Sr.; and be it further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
12 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Mr. Patrick Cristino, and Mr. Matthew Cristino |
