It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 31-35 of the General Laws entitled "Responsibility of Parking |
2 | Lots" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 31-35-2. Ordinances requiring acceptance of cash payments. -- Each city and town in |
4 | this state is authorized and empowered to pass ordinances requiring every person, firm, or |
5 | corporation engaged in the business of parking motor vehicles on outdoor or indoor parking lots, |
6 | operated by automatic controlled devices, to provide on the premises during operational hours a |
7 | person or persons to accept parking fees in cash, and to make change. Violation of this section |
8 | shall result in a fine of two hundred dollars ($200) daily, whereby one hundred dollars ($100) will |
9 | go to the municipality where the business is operated and one hundred dollars ($100) will go into |
10 | the general fund of the state. |
11 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
