EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES TO THE FURIA FAMILY ON THE PASSING OF JOHN A.

FURIA, JR.

     WHEREAS, John A. Furia, Jr., of Coventry, Rhode Island, passed away at home on

February 3, 2016. Mr. Furia was born in Providence, Rhode Island, son of the late John Furia, Sr.,

and Marie Furia. He was the beloved husband of Ruth Furia; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Furia was a hard-working man who was devoted to his family. He

worked many years as a supervisor for the Electric Boat Company, until his retirement. He was a

United States Navy veteran and served our nation with honor, valor, and distinction in the

Vietnam War; and

     WHEREAS, Besides his wife, Mr. Furia leaves behind his children, John Phillip Furia

and his wife, Laura, Lea M. Furia, and Erik Carbone. He also leaves behind his grandchildren,

Lily Rose Furia, Olivia May Furia, Alexia Lee Furia, and Joseph Carbone, and his siblings Paul

Furia and Annmarie Dutra. He is also survived by Jessica and Elana Capaldi; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby expresses its condolences to the Furia Family on the passing of John A. Furia, Jr.; and be

it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Ruth Furia.
