EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES TO THE HURLEY FAMILY ON THE PASSING OF JOHN

R. "JACK" HURLEY

     WHEREAS, John R. "Jack" Hurley of Glocester, Rhode Island, passed away on February

2

21, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Nancy Hurley for 49 years; and

3

     WHEREAS, Mr. Hurley was born in Detroit, Michigan, a son of the late James I. and

4

Helen J. Hurley. He graduated from La Salle Academy, and later earned his degree cum laude

5

from Boston College. He served our state with devotion, integrity, and with a tireless work ethic

6

for twenty-five years as an administrator with the Rhode Island Department of Labor & Training;

7

and

8

     WHEREAS, A talented artist, Mr. Hurley decided to open a studio after retiring where he

9

continued his lifelong passion for painting. Each holiday season, his family and many friends

10

looked forward to his annual, beautifully hand painted Christmas cards; and

11

     WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Nancy, Mr. Hurley leaves behind his brothers, James

12

Hurley and William Hurley, and his sister, Janice Wahman. He is also survived by many nieces

13

and nephews. Mr. Hurley was a kind and compassionate man who will be sorely missed by all

14

who knew him; now, therefore be it

15

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

16

hereby expresses its condolences to the Hurley Family on the passing of John R. "Jack" Hurley;

17

and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is directed to transmit a duly

2

certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Nancy Hurley.
