EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF CHARLOTTE RICHARDSON | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of |
2 | Charlotte Richardson, the beloved wife of Victor C. Richardson for sixty-eight years, and a well- |
3 | respected resident of the Town of Jamestown; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Charlotte Richardson was the |
5 | daughter of the late Charles and Mary Smith, and the sister of three brothers, Albert Smith, |
6 | Charles Smith, and the late James Smith; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Charlotte Richardson's warm personality created and nurtured a marriage |
8 | that flourished, and a home that was warm and welcoming. She doted on her four daughters and |
9 | her sons-in-law, Karen Richardson, Gaelyn Bunker and her husband, Wayne, Kim Whittenhall |
10 | and her husband, Wayne, and Pam Jarret; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Richardson was the kind of grandmother that every child needs and |
12 | deserves. She loved spending time and enjoyed painting and reading to grandchildren, Jennelle |
13 | Goodburn and her husband, David, Marisa Grondin and her husband Jimi, Lucien Jarret and his |
14 | wife, Kim, and Elena Hughes and her husband, Steve, and her nine great-grandchildren. She also |
15 | enjoyed playing the piano and accordion, particularly for the summer Conanicut Yacht Club |
16 | Youth Group and for the residents of the Forest Farm Nursing Home; and |
17 | WHEREAS, In addition to her family life, Mrs. Richardson had been employed as an |
18 | expert bookkeeper in Providence and later with New Visions in Newport. She subsequently |
19 | retired as the Executive Director of the Jamestown Senior Center after twenty-two years of |
20 | service; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Always very active in the community, Mrs. Richardson was the first |
2 | Republican woman elected to the Jamestown Town Council, where she served her constituency |
3 | for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Business |
4 | and Professional Women's Association, Jamestown Chapter, and was a member and served on the |
5 | board of the Conanicut Grange and Pomona Grange, and was a member and served as secretary |
6 | of the Beavertail Lighthouse Museum Association; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Charlotte Richardson was the beloved matriarch of her family and an |
8 | esteemed member of the community. She enriched the lives of all who had the good fortune to |
9 | have known her, and she will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it |
10 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
11 | hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Charlotte Richardson; and be it further |
12 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
13 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Karen Richardson, Gaelyn and Wayne Bunker |
14 | and Family, Kim and Wayne Whittenhall and Family, and Pam Jarret. |
