S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

COMMENDING THE PINK HEALS TOUR ORGANIZATION FOR BRINGING HOPE AND

LOVE TO WOMEN BATTLING CANCER

     

     Introduced By: Senators Satchell, Gallo, Paiva Weed, Metts, and Lombardi

     WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Chapter of the Pink Heals Tour was founded as a non-

2

profit organization dedicated to supporting women and their families while they are battling

3

cancer; and

4

     WHEREAS, The membership of Pink Heals is all-volunteer and is composed of Police

5

Officers, Firefighters, and EMS Personnel who hit the road every month delivering flowers to

6

women who are fighting various types of cancer; and

7

     WHEREAS, In order to raise awareness for this terrible disease, the organization's

8

signature vehicle is a car that is pink, symbolizing a color that is traditionally associated with

9

women. The cars are also inscribed with the names of tens of thousands of people that are

10

battling, have battled, or have lost their battle to cancer; and

11

      WHEREAS, The pink cars not only deliver flowers to women in cancer treatment, but

12

also offer hope and love, hugs and smiles, and supportive stories; and

13

     WHEREAS, In addition, Pink Heals raises funds for its Women’s Center in West

14

Warwick, and provides direct care assistance to those battling cancer, including helping to pay

15

mortgages, oil bills, food, and co-pays; and

16

     WHEREAS, This charitable organization is truly an inspiration and a paradigm of

17

generosity, and is eminently worthy of our praise and acknowledgement; now, therefore be it

18

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

19

hereby proclaims April 30, 2016 to be "Pink Heals Day" in the State of Rhode Island, and hereby

commends the members of the Pink Heals Tour organization for bringing hope, love, and support

2

to women battling cancer in our state; and be it further

3

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

4

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Matthew J. Medeiros, Treasurer, Rhode Island

5

Chapter of the Pink Heals Tour, Inc.
