EXPRESSING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE | |
RAYMOND H. DESTEFANIS | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness and regret that this Senate has learned of the |
2 | passing of the Honorable Raymond H. DeStefanis, beloved husband of Iris DeStefanis for 48 |
3 | years, and a well-respected former member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Blessed with a large and loving family, Mr. DeStefanis was the devoted |
5 | father of Lisa Vincent and her husband, Robert, Diane Scimone-Mancone and her husband, John, |
6 | and North Providence Councilman Raymond DeStefanis and his wife, Susan. He was also the |
7 | very proud grandfather of Ryan, Christopher and Matthew; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Born and raised in the north end section of the City of Providence, Mr. |
9 | DeStefanis was a son of the late Antonio and Mary DeStefanis, and the brother of Anthony and |
10 | Robert DeStefanis, Rhonda Faella, Camille Tella and the late Augostino DeStefanis, Marietta |
11 | Verrengia, Ilda Pensalfini and Tina Ciano; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Mr. DeStefanis attended Providence's public schools and earned his |
13 | Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in accounting and management from Johnson & Wales |
14 | University. For many years, he was employed as a manager of a leading liquor distributor; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Deeply committed to serving his community, the Honorable Raymond |
16 | DeStefanis was elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives in 1972, and served the |
17 | people of the 7th District in Providence through 1976; and |
18 | WHEREAS, After leaving the legislature, Mr. DeStefanis was appointed to the position |
19 | of Administrator of Occupational Safety within the Rhode Island Department of Labor, and in |

1 | 1991, he was appointed Associate Director of the Rhode Island Department of Labor, a position |
2 | he held until his retirement in 2002; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Our thoughts and hearts hold great empathy and sorrow for the family of |
4 | Raymond DeStefanis. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a cherished grandfather. He |
5 | enriched the lives of all who knew him and will be dearly missed in the community; now, |
6 | therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
8 | hereby expresses its deepest sympathies to the entire DeStefanis Family on the passing of the |
9 | Honorable Raymond H. DeStefanis. He will forever be remembered by this Senate and the people |
10 | of Rhode Island for his commitment and service to our state; and be it further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
12 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Mrs. Iris DeStefanis and Family. |
