CONGRATULATING THE SONS OF LIBERTY SPIRITS COMPANY, OF SOUTH

KINGSTOWN, RHODE ISLAND, FOR WINNING THE 2016 "BEST CONTEMPORARY

STYLE GIN AWARD" GIVEN BY THE WORLD GIN AWARDS

     WHEREAS, Sons of Liberty Spirits is a company that was founded on the belief that a

2

better whiskey could be made. They believed that seasonal whiskeys could be made and sold, and

3

they believed that single malt whiskey could be distilled from the beers people love; and

4

      WHEREAS, From these idealistic beginnings, Sons of Liberty Spirits got working on

5

creating spirits that would revolutionize the industry. Their products have earned widespread

6

praise, receiving positive coverage in numerous news media outlets and publications, including

7

the Providence Journal, New Haven Register, Epicurious, Boston Magazine, and FoxNews.com;

8

and

9

     WHEREAS, Sons of Liberty Spirits won the 2016 "Best Contemporary Style Gin

10

Award" from the World Gin Awards for their Genever-style gin distilled from a Belgian wheat

11

beer. Named True Born Gin, it is the first gin line distilled from craft-style beers and is distilled

12

four times. It was described by the judging panel as being "a lovely drink that takes pride in its

13

spirit."; and

14

     WHEREAS, Sons of Liberty Spirits has also won other significant awards including the

15

2016 Gold Medal at the North American Bourbon and Whiskey Competition, the Gold Medal at

16

the 2015 Artisan Awards, the Gold Medal from the 2016 World Whiskey Awards, and the 2015

17

Best in Class Award from the Whiskey of the World Awards; now, therefore be it

18

     RESOLVED, That, this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

19

hereby congratulates the Sons of Liberty Spirits Company on winning the 2016 "Best

Contemporary Style Gin Award" given by the World Gin Awards; and be it further

2

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

3

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Sons of Liberty Spirits Company.
