EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF FRANCIS JOSEPH JAMIEL | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Francis |
2 | Joseph Jamiel, better known as "Tut" to his family and many friends. He was the husband of |
3 | Jayne Jamiel, and the father of Michaela Dziedzic and her husband, Jason, Elizabeth Jamiel and |
4 | her fiancé, Alex Beigel, Alexandra Jamiel, and Victoria Jamiel; and |
5 | WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the Town of Warren, Mr. Jamiel was the son of Lily |
6 | and the late Joseph Jamiel, and the brother of Nicholas, Joseph, Douglas, the late Geoffrey |
7 | Jamiel; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Tut was an outstanding high school athlete, playing for the Warren Red |
9 | Skins in 1972, when they won the Class C Football Championship after compiling an undefeated |
10 | season. He went on to play football at Brown University, graduating in 1977. He was later |
11 | inducted into the Brown University Hall of Fame, the Warren Hall of Fame, and the Rhode Island |
12 | Gridiron Hall of Fame for his myriad achievements; and |
13 | WHEREAS, For many years, Mr. Jamiel had been the proprietor of Jamiel's Shoe World |
14 | in Warren. He considered his job almost a calling more than an occupation, and those who |
15 | shopped at his store were family rather than customers; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Throughout his life, fitness continued to be an important aspect of Tut's life. |
17 | He was an avid spinner, who enjoyed attending the early morning classes with his many friends. |
18 | He was also a parishioner of St. Jean Baptiste Church, loved eating oysters on the half shell and |
19 | listening to reggae music and had coached boys' and girls' soccer teams in the Warren Indoor |
20 | Soccer League during the 1980s and 1990s; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Most importantly, Tut Jamiel's life epitomized the words, “Stand Tall. Shine |
2 | Bright." He was truly the "life of the party" and he will be dearly missed by all who were part of |
3 | his extraordinary life; now, therefore be it |
4 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
5 | hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to the entire Jamiel Family on the passing of Francis |
6 | Joseph Jamiel; and be it further |
7 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
8 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Jayne Jamiel and Family. |
