It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 39-2 of the General Laws entitled "Duties of Utilities and Carriers" |
2 | is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 39-2-1.5. Notice of rate change. – Every cable television, internet, or telephone service |
4 | provider doing business in the state shall provide every customer written notice (not as part of any |
5 | statement or invoice) of any rate change increase for the service, provided at least thirty (30) days |
6 | prior to the effective date of any such increase, at any time after the expiration of the initial |
7 | contract term, unless the customer shall have previously renewed for another contract term by |
8 | express written or oral communication. |
9 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
