A N   A C T

RELATING TO HUMAN SERVICES-CHILD CARE-STATE SUBSIDIES

     Introduced By: Representatives Williams, Diaz, Lombardi, Regunberg, and Almeida

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 40-6.2 of the General Laws entitled "Child Care-State Subsidies"

is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     40-6.2-6. Status of co-payments-database established.-- (a) The department of human

services shall establish a searchable online database, that shall be accessible to all certified

family-child care providers, for the purpose of monitoring the status of all co-payments owed by

families receiving child care assistance.

     (b) Before the department of human services approves the payment of a state child care

subsidy for a child to a new provider, it shall ascertain whether the prospective placing family

owes any co-payments to prior certified family-child care providers. The department shall not

authorize the requested placement payment until the placing family has made arrangements to

pay their past due child care placement co-payments.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect January 1, 2017.

     This act would require the department of human services to establish a searchable online

database, accessible to all certified family-child care providers, for the purpose of monitoring the

status of all co-payments owed by families receiving child care assistance.

     This act would take effect on January 1, 2017.
