RELATING TO COMMERCIAL LAW--GENERAL REGULATORY PROVISIONS --

DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICES

     

     Introduced By: Representatives Corvese, Azzinaro, Edwards, O'Brien, and Winfield

     Date Introduced: February 12, 2016

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 6-13.1 of the General Laws entitled "Deceptive Trade Practices" is

hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     6-13.1-12.2. Appliance manufacturer mandatory retailer return. -- Any appliance

4

manufacturer that sells their appliances to a Rhode Island wholesaler or retailer sales outlet shall

5

grant a full price sales credit for any appliance that is returned to it unused, within a reasonable

6

time. It is the expressed public policy of this state that the appliance consumer not be financially

7

damaged if they return unused appliances with a reasonable time of sale.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
