RELATING TO PUBLIC OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES - RETIRED STATE EMPLOYEES

MEDICAL BENEFITS

     

     Introduced By: Representatives McLaughlin, O'Brien, and Coughlin

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 36-10 of the General Laws entitled "Retirement System-

Contributions and Benefits" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     36-10-41. Moratorium medical insurance deductibles and co-payments. --

4

Commencing January 1, 2017 until December 31, 2022, no retired state employee entitled to

5

receive medical insurance as a result of their state employment shall be required to pay a

6

deductible or co-payment for any covered medical expense.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would release retired state employees entitled to receive medical insurance from

paying a deductible or co-payment for any covered medical expense, commencing on January 1,

3

2017 until December 31, 2022.

4

     This act would take effect upon passage.
